NBI Attorneys is appointed to act as an independent investigator in matters falling under the Mental Health Care Act.

Our role is to assist the Master of the High Court by conducting thorough and impartial investigations relating to the administration of a patient’s affairs.

We approach these matters with professionalism, care, and attention to detail.

WHAT WE ASSESS

Our investigations may include assessing:

  • The patient’s mental and physical condition
  • The patient’s personal and financial circumstances
  • The patient’s ability to manage their own affairs
  • The applicant’s relationship with the patient
  • The suitability of the applicant to manage the patient’s affairs
  • The applicant’s ability and fitness to act in the patient’s best interests

OUR PROCESS

We conduct a structured and impartial investigation process.

This includes reviewing relevant documentation, gathering information, and conducting in-person visits with the patient and the applicant where required.

These assessments help provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances involved.

REPORTING TO THE MASTER

Following the investigation, we prepare a detailed report for submission to the Master of the High Court.Our findings assist in informing decisions relating to the appointment of a curator or administrator and the management of the patient’s affairs.
